What happens when dose reminders are off?

For an active medicine with a scheduled dose pattern, Dosia can track supply even when individual dose reminders are disabled. A daily background update calculates the scheduled consumption since the previous update and deducts it from the recorded stock.

Those deductions are marked estimated because you have not confirmed each dose. The quantity does not necessarily change immediately at dose time.

A concrete stock example

Suppose a fictional medicine starts with 30 units and its entered schedule uses 1 unit each day. After three scheduled uses, the next background update deducts 3 units and shows 27 recorded units, subject to available stock and accurate entries.

If one use did not happen, the assumption is wrong. Check the physical stock and use the available recount controls. This example explains stock arithmetic, not a medicine schedule to follow.

Dose, low-stock, and expiry switches are separate

Turning dose reminders off does not require turning low-stock or expiry alerts off. Keep the alerts you want, set your thresholds, and choose supported notification channels in settings. Stock alerts help plan refills; expiry tracking keeps batch dates visible.

When automatic deduction does not apply

As-needed medicines have no fixed scheduled use and are excluded from this automatic deduction. Inactive or discontinued medicines are also excluded. Automatic tracking assumes your recorded schedule was followed; it cannot observe what you took.

Choose the workflow that fits your records

Use dose reminders when you want prompts and individual dose actions. Use quiet stock tracking when you want an estimate without dose notifications. In either mode, keep batch entries and the physical count up to date.
